Davido’s father discloses DNA test Results to end long-running paternity claims

Published:

The long-running paternity controversy involving Nigerian music superstar Davido has been brought back into public focus following a press conference addressed by his father, billionaire businessman Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, on January 21. Speaking firmly and emotionally, Dr. Adeleke revealed that multiple DNA tests conducted over several years conclusively showed that Davido is not the biological father of a young woman named Anuoluwapo Labinjo, whose mother had claimed an encounter with the singer in 2013.

According to Dr. Adeleke, the family first became aware of the claim in 2014, prompting immediate steps to establish the truth through scientific testing. He disclosed that the first DNA test was carried out that same year, followed by additional tests at different points over the years to eliminate any doubts or claims of bias. All the tests, he stated, returned the same result: a 0.00 percent probability of paternity between Davido and Anuoluwapo Labinjo.

Despite the repeated negative results, Dr. Adeleke emphasized that compassion and responsibility guided the family’s response. He revealed that he personally supported Anu’s education by paying her school fees and also sponsored her mother’s education at Adeleke University, underscoring that the assistance was given purely out of goodwill and not an admission of paternity.

“I would have proudly accepted her as my 15th grandchild if the results had been positive,” Dr. Adeleke said, stressing that the family remained open-minded throughout the process. He noted that the decision to provide support was rooted in empathy, especially considering the emotional toll such disputes can have on a young person.

The press conference also addressed the role of controversial journalist Kemi Olunloyo, whom Dr. Adeleke accused of fueling the controversy by allegedly managing Anu’s Instagram account and using it to defame Davido and the Adeleke family. According to him, the social media activity prolonged the issue long after scientific evidence had settled the matter.

In response, Kemi Olunloyo partially acknowledged involvement with the account but denied several aspects of the allegations leveled against her. Her reaction has further fueled online discussions, with opinions sharply divided across social media platforms.

Davido, whose global music career has continued to flourish amid the controversy, publicly expressed gratitude to his father following the press briefing. In a brief message, the singer thanked Dr. Adeleke for standing firmly by the truth and protecting the family’s integrity throughout the ordeal.

As the Adeleke family calls for closure, Dr. Adeleke urged the public and media to respect the facts and allow all parties to move forward. He maintained that the repeated DNA tests should finally put the matter to rest and warned against the continued spread of misinformation.

With emotions running high and public interest intense, the family hopes the latest disclosures will mark the end of a chapter that has lingered for nearly a decade, allowing healing, privacy, and focus on the future for everyone involved.
