The Asante Kingdom is in deep mourning following the passing of Asantehemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III, the highly revered Queen Mother of Asanteman and the second most powerful figure in the kingdom after the Asantehene.

The Oyoko Royal Family formally informed Otumfuo Osei Tutu II of her death during an emergency meeting of the Asanteman Traditional Council in Kumasi on Monday. While the exact circumstances of her passing remain undisclosed, palace insiders confirm that preparations are underway for elaborate royal funeral rites to honor her legacy.
Nana Konadu Yiadom III, who became Asantehemaa in 2017, was the biological mother of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. She played a central role in safeguarding Asante culture, guiding matters of chieftaincy, and uniting the people of Asanteman as a true mother figure.

Widely celebrated for her wisdom, diplomacy, and unwavering dedication to tradition, she worked hand-in-hand with the Asantehene to mediate disputes, mentor chiefs and queen mothers, and protect the integrity of the kingdom.
Her passing marks the close of a historic chapter in the royal court. Over the coming days, traditional mourning customs, including the draping of black and red cloth across the Manhyia Palace and key areas of Kumasi, will be observed.

The Asanteman Traditional Council will announce the funeral date after consultations with the Oyoko Family and the palace. Leaders and dignitaries from across Ghana, Africa, and the diaspora are expected to attend, alongside traditional rulers from allied kingdoms.
For the people of Asanteman, Nana Konadu Yiadom III was far more than a royal leader, she was a mother, counselor, and custodian of their heritage. Her absence leaves an irreplaceable void in the heart of the kingdom.
