Morocco has reaffirmed its long-standing support for the Palestinian cause by welcoming a delegation from the Human Rights and Civil Society Department of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) for an intensive week-long training program in Rabat.

The initiative, spearheaded by Morocco’s National Human Rights Council (CNDH), is designed to equip Palestinian human rights defenders with essential skills in advocacy, international humanitarian law, and human rights documentation. The program blends theoretical sessions with practical training, with a strong focus on amplifying the Palestinian voice in global human rights discourse.

Strengthening International Solidarity

This high-level training forms part of Morocco’s broader strategy to promote international solidarity and human rights advocacy. The CNDH President, who is personally overseeing the program, underscored the symbolic and strategic importance of this engagement.

“The Palestinian question remains one of the most urgent tests of our commitment to universal human rights,” she said. “This training is not only about building skills; it’s a call to reinforce the legal and ethical obligations of the international community in the face of ongoing violations.”

The sessions include in-depth discussions on mechanisms for international protection, evidence-based advocacy, and collaboration with global institutions. Trainers from Morocco and international experts are sharing tools to help the Palestinian delegation navigate complex legal frameworks and effectively document human rights abuses.

Palestinian Delegates Welcome Morocco’s Support

Members of the visiting Palestinian delegation have praised Morocco’s consistent and tangible support. Speaking at the opening of the program, a senior delegate commended the CNDH for its leadership in global human rights spaces.

“This training is a powerful gesture of solidarity. Morocco is not only offering words of support but investing in our capacity to speak up, defend our people, and engage more effectively with international law,” he said.

Delegates also emphasized the value of building institutional partnerships and learning from Morocco’s experiences in rights-based advocacy and civic engagement.

A Strategic Move in a Critical Moment

This initiative comes at a time when the Palestinian issue remains at the heart of regional and international concern. With increasing global scrutiny of human rights conditions in Palestinian territories, capacity-building efforts like this help ensure that Palestinian voices are backed by legal expertise and strategic advocacy.

The CNDH’s involvement also reflects Morocco’s evolving role as a mediator and advocate in global human rights platforms. By supporting the professional development of Palestinian civil society actors, Morocco is carving a path of pragmatic solidarity rooted in legal empowerment and international cooperation.

Looking Ahead

As the training progresses, participants are expected to develop actionable advocacy strategies that will be implemented in their local and international work. The program is also paving the way for deeper collaboration between Moroccan and Palestinian human rights institutions.

“We are planting seeds of long-term partnership,” said a senior CNDH official. “Together, we can work toward justice, dignity, and the realization of fundamental rights for all.”

With its focus on knowledge-sharing and empowerment, this training marks a significant milestone in Morocco’s support for the Palestinian cause, one grounded not just in diplomacy, but in shared human rights values.
